ALENA FEDE | Fashion, interior, graphic designer, artist, from Russia, Moscow, lives in USA, Charleston, SC. From Italian word Fede means Faith That you cannot give up. Always keep it moving
keep going. Do not be afraid of expressing yourself with your ideas and creativity.
Who is your favorite fashion designer?
I can′t just say about one designer
Valentino, Ralph Lauren, Lanvin, Vera Wang, Rosa Clara have become a great influence in my life.
Describe the general process you go through to design and realize a piece of clothing?
It usually starts off with an inspiration and this does not have to be something tangible, but can sometimes just be a feeling or a mood. I usually have a selection of fabrics that I have chosen for the season. I will then start scribbling ideas down on paper and making rough sketches of things that come in to my mind. Once I feel I have a clear pattern of where the collection is going, I start to put it together, create the patterns and drape a lot of the styles. This is where the magic Art starts and the collection comes to life.
What is next for Alena Fede / What are your short and long term design goals?
I set myself a challenge to create something new, fresh and beautiful each season. Some Dresses from my new Fall collection of Evening Dresses shows (is going to show) in Charleston Style & Design Magazine and going for sell Black and Red. Also new Bridal Collection is coming soon. But globally this coming year I want to interact with more magazines, editors, boutiques. I will definitely increase my business and design, launching my collections in Washington DC, NYC, LA, Miami.
Hopefully it will see me establishing my brand on an international level and developing to become a designer worthy of peoples attention.
What is the best advice you can give a woman about what to wear?
Fashion, especially today, is very much about having a sense of proportion and being able to put things together in an original and interesting way.
I would advise women to get little adventurous with there style and try new things, try to put own touch to the latest fashion
with accessories, shoes etc. Fashion is such a fun thing, so have fun with it, experiment with colors and silhouettes!
Other than the white shirt, what should be an essential in every woman′s closet?
Little Black Dress, a Skirt, a Pair of high heels!
What kind of advice would you give to someone wanting to start a career in Fashion?
That you can not give up. Always keep moving
keep going. Do not be afraid of express yourself with your ideas and creativity.
Keep pushing through, no matter what people may say, you have to believe in yourself, and your craft, have self-confidence, but also be realistic, and work hard for what you want.
When you do what you love in designing and only what you love, then you exude an excitement about you and your art to others. That is contagious. Live, Love & Create!
